VIOLET SKIES ONE DAY, THREE AUTUMNS

It's safe to say we're pretty blown away by Welsh singer/songwriter Violet Skies, who's a dab hand at blending raw emotion with sparse electronic soundscapes and soft, skeletal piano keys. Following on from her June-released Dragons EP which featured the breathtaking single ‘How the Mighty’, she's back with the spellbinding ‘One Day, Three Autumns’, a woozy ballad ignited with an opening sample from the ultimate ode to lost love, Hollywood classic A Farewell to Arms. As plaintive piano chords roll in, Violet Skies' subdued voice gently filters through, swiftly ramping up to a soaring, achy chorus of “they say, one day, is like three autumns” (a nod to time's glacial pace when waiting for love to return, we reckon). Catch this beguiling artist's next EP when it drops in March, it will be worth it. -DW
